Halliday Wine Companion, the industry benchmark for Australian wine, is thrilled to announce the launch of its annual Halliday Trade Forum.
The Forum will take place on August 3, 2023, at the iconic Prince Hotel in St Kilda and is set to be an inspiring day full of insights from an impressive roster of thought leaders and innovators making waves in the wine industry.
The Halliday Trade Forum will provide a unique opportunity for wine professionals to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other, and no matter which sector of the industry you work in – from winemaker to retailer, distributor to brand marketer – you’re sure to be engaged through panel discussions, interactive workshops, and a special wine masterclass with James Halliday.
At the morning session, Halliday Tasting Team member and renown wine writer, Jane Faulkner will host a stimulating panel discussion featuring fellow Tasting Team members, wine buyer Philip Rich, wine educator Leanne Altmann (Trader House group), and viticulturist and winemaker Tessa Brown (Schmölzer & Brown). The group will share their experiences, challenges, and successes as wine industry professionals. The session will also see the release of Halliday Wine Companion’s annual Trends Report, which looks at buying and drinking habits, emerging varietals and wine styles, viticultural trends and experimental winemaking techniques.
Attendees will then hear from representatives from Tide.PR (Mumbrella CommsCon Boutique PR Agency of the Year 2022) Reload Media, Brown Family Wine Group and Shopify in a session dedicated to selling direct to consumers. Discover how to successfully build brands and the best techniques for attracting and selling to customers.
The afternoon will split into two focused streams. An interactive marketing workshop will offer valuable insights into consumer behaviour, digital marketing strategies, and the art of storytelling. While renowned wine critic and founder of Halliday Wine Companion, James Halliday, will present a masterclass featuring highly rated Halliday wines.

With a wine career spanning over 50 years, James Halliday was one of the founders of Brokenwood in the Hunter Valley, and later, Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley.
